This will be our 2nd meetup of autumn, and we have a super selection of speakers across multiple areas. Speaker 1: Andy O’Sullivan, Liberty IT “How to build a working Alexa Skill during a 15 minute meetup talk”! Andy works in the innovation team of Liberty Information Technology, lectures in app development and founded appsandbiscuits.com, a site to teach absolute beginners how to build apps. Andy will talk about how to make Alexa Skills for the Amazon Echo and build a quick one from scratch on the night! Speaker 2: Shane Lynn, EdgeTier “Get busy with word embeddings” Shane is CEO and co-founder of EdgeTier, a startup in Dublin that applies natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning to text from customer service centres.  Shane will speak about recent NLP advances in word embeddings. Word embeddings, or word vectors, are representations of words that have proven useful in all manner of language and text applications from classification to generation. Shane will cover some theory on how word vectors are created, and talk about how you can use them in your own chat and text processing applications. Speaker 3: Jamie Renehan, Version 1 ” AI and the 12 Pubs of Christmas” Jamie is a Microsoft, Tableau & Dataiku Certified, Data & Analytics Consultant. He has played a leading role in the design, development and delivery of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics solutions across a wide range of sectors including Insurance, Financial Services, Healthcare, Aviation, Medical Device, Oil & Gas, Tech and Utilities.  Jamie will talk about how scheduling chatbots like Meekan support users as an intelligent virtual assistant, simplifying the process of scheduling events, meetings and appointments through integration with slack teams and Doodle Polls. Meekan’s Natural Language Understanding (NLU) engine is used to better understand and engage its users, learning their preferences and habits over time.
