IMPORTANT Tickets cost 50 Euro and  may be purchased here – https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/osgeo-ireland-1st-national-symposium-2017-tickets-33421397299 Overview  The Irish Local Chapter of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) will host a one day Symposium in Limerick on Friday, 26th May 2017.  The event will include a morning session of Keynote presentations and lightning talks, followed by a series of hands-on workshops focussing on OSGeo software projects. The event is open to anyone. However it will be particular interest to individuals or groups such as : those with an interest in FOSS4G, users of open source software and FOSS4G, geographers and geoscientists, computer scientists, software developers and programmers, software companies, open data users, researchers, government agencies, SMEs, NGOs etc. The symposium will provide a relaxed and stimulating environment to learn about OSGeo, meet people with similar interest in OSGeo and FOSSG, and in some cases learn some new skills in the workshops. Draft Programme The schedule will include: • A Morning Session of Short, Lightning Talks • A Keynote Presentation from Dr. Markus Neteler (GRASS-GIS Project, Mundialis, OSGeo)  • An Afternoon Session of hands-on workshops focusing on popular OSGeo software projects, including GRASS-GIS and QGIS. About OSGEO Ireland The mission of the Irish OSGeo Local Chapter is to promote the development and use of free open-source software within the Irish geospatial community. The Irish LOC will also serve to promote GIS Education using OSGeo software in Irish third-level institutions and industry. Objectives To increase and promote awareness of OSGeo Software within the Irish geospatial (industry & research) community.To provide a forum to discuss and gain experience with OSGeo SoftwareTo help educate people in the use of OSGeo Software in Ireland.
