Shaking off the January Blues at weAREhere

Vicky writes: “What a way to shake off the January blues. The weAREhere celebration, a gathering of women in tech groups, was a sure-fire way of achieving that! The eagerly anticipated evening was held in the ever-so-quirky Liquor Rooms, who have been supporting community events in the creative cultural and tech space by hosting them for free. Mentions of “Dry January” didn’t go amiss, and mocktails were the flavour of the night. I even sampled one of the refreshing customised fruity concoctions!

I kicked off the evening welcoming all the smiling faces, thanking our sponsor Accenture Ireland, who provided the drinks and food, and our venue host The Liquor Rooms. Ruth from Accenture said a few words followed by a quick overview of each of the organisers’ initiatives. In closing, we invited Sarita Johnston, the manager of female entrepreneurship from Enterprise Ireland, to talk about the new competitive fund. I added that we have an event in the works and it was still a secret, and no sooner had I stepped off the stage than the curious audience wanted to know what it was!

Top Secret New Event

Shortly after, food was served, the bar was busy and it turned out to be a focal point for people to connect or catch-up while queuing for their order. I found myself lost in conversation with one group then another, meeting both new and familiar faces. I jumped with excitement at the chance to connect with people and was thoroughly inspired by all the clever and amazing people who came along, making me forget it was a cold, dark January evening outside. Yes, it’s certainly a fantastic way to kick-start 2017.

And what about our secret event? You’ll have to wait patiently and find out the news in the coming months via our Facebook Page.”
